FAQ
I will graduate in the first term , am I eligible to apply?
PCKKSCA is for current full-time CUHK students only. Any student who graduates before the submission date (i.e., 17 February 2025) will not be qualified.
Can I submit my Final-year-project or course assignment for this competition?
Yes, please be reminded that the project should not be awarded with prizes in any international or national competitions. Moreover, it should not be published in full in a journal. However, this limitation does not apply to conference abstracts.
I am an international student, am I eligible to apply?
PCKKSCA is for current full-time CUHK students, no matter you are local or non-local student. However, an exchange student for just one term or one year is ineligible.
If I am shortlisted to present to the judging panel, which language is preferable?
As the participants may be nominated to compete for local, national and international competitions, English/Putonghua will be recommended as the language for presentation.
My invention is developed by myself only. Can I submit an application if I do not have a faculty member as supervisor?
Every entry must be supervised and/or endorsed by a faculty member of CUHK. Thus, please invite a faculty member (teaching staff, not research staff) whose research interests are related to your project in order to endorse your application. You may contact us for assistance if you have problem in finding a supervisor or endorser.
What kind of presentation material will be recommended?
Powerpoint presentation, video, prototype, and live demo are recommended. The whole presentation, including set up, should be limited to 6 minutes maximum. There will be 4 minutes Q&A time after your presentation.
My supervisor is a research staff. Can he or she endorse my application?
Every application must be supervised and/or endorsed by a faculty member of CUHK. Research staff can serve as one of the supervisors or endorsers with a faculty member. Please discuss with your supervisor to invite a faculty member (teaching staff, not research staff) to endorse your application as well.
Will any rehearsal be arranged before the presentation to the judging panel?
Yes. We strongly recommend that you sign up for rehearsal, which allow you to test any equipment and time your presentation in a trial run. Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the details in due course.
